Note di degustazione
A hint of newish oak manages to harmonize with alluring scents of hyacinth and violet. As with so many of the Breuer 2016s, mouthwatering salinity and mineral intrigue are already intimated in the nose by a suggestion of sea breeze. There are also hints of mocha-coffee and an aromatic anticipation of the white peach that then lusciously informs this bottling’s silken palate. The lingering finish is transparent to floral perfume and shimmering stony impingement, virtues absent from the finish of this wine’s village-level “Rauenthal Estate” counterpart.

From vines that are 50+ years old and in the best part of the cru, the 2016 Rheingau Riesling Rauenthal Nonnenberg displays ripe and concentrated fruit intermixed with stony and some herbal aromas. This is a round, juicy, pretty generous and intense Riesling with perfectly ripe and sensual fruit. The Nonnenberg is deep, calm and highly elegant, a long and quiet flow over the palate. One of the finest I have tasted. Release date: March 2018. Tasted in October 2017.
