Note di degustazione
Bittersweet perfume of iris and gentian mingles in the nose with an anticipation of tart citrus as well as a hint of cask. Bright, tart lemon, lime and gooseberry dominate on a lean palate, leading to an energetic, invigorating and refreshing albeit athletically lean, tart-edged, piquant and very sharply-focused finish. The intent in employing a bit more exposure to wood (or a bit newer wood) seems to have been to round-out the wine’s acid-induced sharp edges. Perhaps with time that aim will be more fully accomplished and this bottling become more winsome and charming. But I would monitor it carefully if cellaring any, and meantime have been very conservative in my prognosis.

The 2014 Rauenthaler Nonnenberg Riesling offers a very pure and deep, yet rather closed bouquet of crushed stones and some lemon flavors. Full-bodied and with firm tannins, this is a very mineral and well structured Riesling with good concentration, piquant and crystalline acidity, and lingering salinity. Very pure and with a great aging potential.
