Note di degustazione
The 2015 Chardonnay is an explosive and expressive style for Giaconda, chock full of personality, with powerful primary aromas of nectarine, pineapple and custard apple. The mild vintage bestowed this wine with great tension and phenolic grip. Young and tight, it feels just a bit pinched and not generously proportioned, but it drives through to a long finish, again with a touch of flint.

Hand-picked, whole bunch-crushed and basket-pressed, fermented in French oak (30% new), 100% mlf, matured for 22 months, not filtered. Pale, bright straw-green; the bouquet is very complex, yet subtle due to ephemeral husky/creamy nuances. The sheer power of the palate is of a category unique to Giaconda (and perhaps Leeuwin Estate), for it is on you before you realise it, the acidity bright and fresh notwithstanding the mlf.
Too heavy bottle. Very pale. Interesting, layered, lightly matchstick nose. Smoke and exotic fruit but an undertow of really interesting terroir. So different from the Giaconda Chardonnays of old. Great balance, and a bit more fruit than some. Crystal clear. Lots to chew on – a bright future. (JR)
This is a layered and intense chardonnay with cream, apple, dried pineapple and stone character. Full body. Dense and exotic yet a beautiful edge and length to it. The legend delivers. Drink now. Screw cap.
