Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2014-2024, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

Shockingly good, the 2009 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee Artemia is in the top handful of wines I've tasted from this appellation. Just insanely perfumed, with tons of incense, Provencal herbs, garrigue, smoked meats and violets, this full-bodied beauty has a stacked mid-palate, building, sweet tannin and a killer finish. Hello beautiful, why didn't I buy more of you.

The estate’s top cuvee and blend of equal parts Syrah (from 50-year-old vines) and Grenache (from 80-year-old vines) that’s aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak, the 2009 Château Pesquié Côtes du Ventoux Artemia is one serious Côtes du Ventoux and boasts knockout aromatics of brambly, crunchy black fruits, freshly snipped flowers, vanilla, tobacco leaf, and graphite that flow perfectly to a full-bodied, balanced, and seamlessly textured red. Gaining richness with air and picking up a more meaty, butcher shop like quality, this gorgeously proportioned 2009 shows the ripeness of the vintage, yet maintains brilliant purity of fruit, and a sweetness to the tannin that is hard to come by in the vintage. It should be given 2-3 years of bottle age, and then consumed over the following decade.
