The young(er) vine cuvée is the 2015 Cornas Les Chailles which comes from the Chaillot, Mazards, Chapuze, and Combe lieux-dits. It’s all destemmed and brought up in older barrels. It offers terrific black fruits, saddle leather, bouquet garni and floral/violet aromas and flavors, full-bodied richness, plenty of sweet tannin and a great finish. It's going to be a terrific value. Unfortunately, I had an off bottle of the 2015 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes, but I’ll purchase a bottle locally as soon as possible and update the report. Nevertheless, winemaker Albéric Mazoyer has produced brilliant 2015s and 2016s.

Very small lieu-dit on old soils with a little limestone. Deep crimson. Dark and sumptous Syrah perfume of ripe and peppery bramble fruit. A little charry sweetness on the palate. Deep and generous, balanced by finesse in the tannins. Young but already smoothed like chocolate. Long, spicy finish and a kick of freshness on the finish. (JH)
Bottling in April 2017. Superbly opulent nose – leather, liquorice, black bramble fruits. Extraordinary floral notes – more noticeable than the fruit, and surprisingly expressive for Cornas. No burly restraint here. Delicious! (RH)
(aged for two years in barriques and demi-muids , 20 percent of them new) Deep ruby. Smoke-accented blackberry and blueberry scents on the deeply perfumed nose, complicated by olive, peppery spice and floral notes. Densely packed dark berry liqueur flavors pick up licorice and cola accents with aeration. Stains the palate and becomes more lively with air, finishing with bright mineral cut, impressive tenacity and building tannins.
