Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2044, Neal Martin, Nov 2025

The 2015 Coleraine has another intense and concentrated bouquet that is cut from a similar cloth to the '09. Black cherries, cassis and violets, just a hint of potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with finely spun tannins. Perfectly judged acidity, very cohesive, there is a patina of oak to be subsumed towards the finish, yet it possesses the sleekness and finesse of the 2013, if not quite the same level of complexity and mineralité. Tasted from a bottle shipped directly from the estate at the Coleraine vertical in London.

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Mostly new French oak barrels for 17 months. Lively and fresh and very pure in a New Zealand context. Relatively GV . Bravo! (JR)

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2035, Neal Martin, Nov 2018

The 2015 Coleraine is clearly a vintage that requires an hour’s decanting. Initially, the bouquet is overtly fruit-driven, offering raspberry and crushed strawberry scents, but missing Coleraine’s usual complexity. That emerges after aeration, the fruity aromas receding and becoming blacker, and cedar and cigar humidor aromas developing. The palate is medium-bodied and certainly reflective of the richer vintages in recent years, featuring vibrant red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit and well-judged acidity. The smooth, slightly candied finish deserves a couple of years in bottle to develop more personality. Very fine.

The 2015 Coleraine is a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Fragrant as always, hinting at violets, tobacco and cassis, it's also a broad-shouldered vintage, with substantial power and tannin. The oak is beautifully integrated into the wine already, appearing as classy Pauillac-like pencil shavings on the lengthy finish.
