Sourced from a parcel of viognier growing on granitic soils, this has a fragrant and fresh edge with barely ripe white nectarines, yellow plums and white apricots. Quite captivating. The palate has an almost saline appeal to it and is quite crunchy and crisp. A succulent stance holds the finish well. It\'s focused and pure. Drink now and for 5+ years.

Light gold. Intense orchard and pit fruit scents on the highly perfumed, mineral-accented nose, and a floral note that gains power as the wine opens up. Round and fleshy yet vibrant; slow-building spiciness adds cut to sappy pear, white peach and orange flavors. The floral quality comes back strongly on a long, penetrating finish, which leaves behind notes of honeysuckle and lemon curd. The blend of power and elegance is pretty impressive.
Made from 2009 onwards – a parcel within the St-Pierre de Boeuf vineyard. Nothing to do with Georges Vernay. No new oak. Foudres and burgundian 350-litre barrels. Quite heady and rich on the nose – and unmistakably Condrieu. Rich and polished and gives the impression of a bit of residual sugar. Flattering but lacks real energy. (JR)
