Punteggio 92+/100 · Da bere 2026-2042, Neal Martin, Mar 2025

The 2015 Morgon Côte du Py is very different from the 2015 Les Charmes, more open with a higher percentage of red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and quite structured with a slightly tertiary entry, fine grip, black pepper and subtle marine notes towards what feels like a slightly more opulent finish. Excellent.

The 2015 Morgon Cote du Py, which I tasted from barrel last year, has a glorious bouquet with beautifully defined dark cherry fruit mixed with orange sorbet and citrus aromas. There is great vivacity here, reveling in the vintage. The palate is sensual right from the beginning: saturated tannin, very well judged acidity and so much energy conveyed toward the caressing finish. This lives up to its promise.

Deep crimson. Rich and spicy with the full intensity of the vintage but with excellent freshness to give life on the finish. Powerful, dry but rich in a dark, graphite/granite Morgon concentration. Needs a lot of time. VGV (JH)

Due to be bottled just after the Grands Cras in the second half of July, the 2015 Morgon Côte de Py has a more outgoing and vivacious bouquet than the Grands Cras, with macerated dark cherries, orange sorbet and maraschino cherry scents rushing from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red cherry and fig-tinged fruit, a little CO2 in the mix at the moment but the finish shows control and refinement, just a little warmth at the back of the throat a testament to the warmth of the growing season. Massive potential here - look out for this when released.
