Punteggio 93/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2020

Readers looking for an incredible expression of Carignan need to check out the 2015 Minervois la Ciaude. Incorporating 30% Syrah and 20% Grenache, it offers classic Carignan darker fruits (cassis, plums, raspberries), lots of violet characteristics, medium to full body, ripe tannin and a balanced, beautifully textured style. It needs short-term cellaring, but should keep through 2023.

Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2018-2022, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2018

From the village of Cazelles. Tasted blind. Still very dark crimson. A less-intense nose than some. A bit of jujube, a bit of liquorice. Broad, evolved fruit with acid more prominent than tannin. Rather ungenerous stringy finish. Ends very suddenly. Not one of the most eloquent Languedoc reds. Vigorous, certainly! But a little bit mean. (JR)

Anne Gros is better known for her estate in Vosne-Romanée, as is her partner Jean-Paul Tollot for his family’s Domaine Tollot-Beaut in Chorey-lès-Beaune. Beyond Burgundy, however, the duo makes some impressive wine in Cazelles in the Minervois, working with higher-altitude vineyards.
