1945 Musigny (2017 Release)

Ledgers show that the 1945 Musigny Grand Cru was actually an acquisition of finished wine in barrel made by de Vogüé. So this is essentially their wine but with a different label! It has a deep hue. The nose is entrancing with dark berry fruit, what I can only describe as "black plimsoll" and a touch of hickory. The palate is better than the nose with insistent grip, wonderful structure, a Musigny with a solid backbone after 80 years. Wonderful pixelation on the finish indicating that this comes from a serious producer, yet that is paradoxically concurrent tenderness. Heavenly.
