Dark crimson. Very much Syrah rather than Shiraz. Rich and broad. Treacle toffee. (JR)
(vinified with all whole clusters and aged for eight months in old French oak casks; 13% alcohol): Bright violet color. Expansive blackberry, cherry-cola and floral pastille scents are complemented by notes of incense, Indian spices and pipe tobacco. Offers an array of sweet dark fruit and pungent spice flavors that gain sweetness with air and pick up a smoky mineral nuance. Finishes smooth, spicy and very long, leaving juicy blue fruit and candied violet notes behind. This Syrah would be a great ringer in a flight of elegant northern Rhône wines.
