Note di degustazione
Big and mouth filling, the 2009 L'Âme Sœur Terres de Seyssuel has a Côte-Rôtie-like profile of iron, crushed stone-like minerality, pepper, violets, and both red and black fruits to go with a medium to full-bodied, rich, and layered texture, fantastic focus, juicy acidity, and a structured, lengthy finish. Gaining additional meatiness and bacon qualities with air, this outstanding Syrah needs another 2-3 years of bottle age, and will shine for over a decade.

Bright ruby. Highly fragrant, mineral-accented perfume of candied red fruits and violet, with a touch of cracked pepper gaining volume with air. Juicy and precise, offering lively raspberry and bitter cherry flavors along with a suggestion of candied flowers. Finishes racy and long, with resonating spiciness and very good clarity.
The 2009 Syrah l'Ame Soeur VDP reveals great complexity with notes of lard, licorice, bay leaf, black raspberries and black currants. It possesses an expansive, savory mouthfeel, supple tannins, beautiful elegance and a style that could easily pass for a Cote Rotie in a blind tasting. This beauty should drink well for 7-8 years. This up and coming area of Seyssuel now has over 13 vignerons working on about 100 acres of vines. Ogier's wines just keep getting better and better, so if you haven't yet jumped on the Ogier bandwagon, it's time to do so. Michel Ogier, and more recently his son, Stephane, are the leading craftsmen in terms of wines from the steep hillsides north of the old Roman town of Vienne. These are still entitled to only a VDP designation, but current vintages are the finest he has yet produced. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, New York City; tel. (212) 239-1275
Deep ruby. High-pitched, perfumed aromas of crushed raspberry, pungent minerality and candied violet. Silky, suave and very refined, with superb clarity to its mineral-accented flavors of red berries, floral pastille and blood orange. A strikingly energetic and insinuating syrah, with a finely focused, spicy finish. This wine's balance is very impressive.
