Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2022-2038, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

From blue slate soils and aged on the lees for 24 months, the 2015 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling "Fahrlay" Reserve displays a very pure and smoky nose with herbal aromas and clear, well-concentrated fruit that is still in the background. Fresh and piquant, with firm tannins and challenging minerality, this is a pretty austere and exacting Riesling with a firm but still a bit drying finish. The grapes were macerated for 36 hours. Clemens agrees that this is an astringent wine today, but he believes it will leave the Rothenpfad behind one day. Tasted February 2018.

The 2015 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG Fahrlay is clear, fresh and very pure on the nose, and combines smoky flavors with ripe tropical fruit aromas. Gorgeously fruity on the palate, this is a lush but also pure and piquant dry Riesling with a lot of finesse and mineral tension. The aftertaste reveals nice grip and aromatic length. Excellent!

Punteggio 19/20 · Da bere 2016-2025, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2016

The Fahrlay appears the most exotic of Clemens Busch’s Grosse Gewächse in terms of fruit, without sliding into the trap of tropical exuberance. The fruit may be ripe and sweet, but it’s juicy and fresh too, a real mouthful, refined by subtle mineral layers and almost gripping acidity. Pünderich may not sound like the most exciting of locations, but this is where in 2015 generosity met complexity for a riveting Riesling experience. (MS)
