The 2013 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz is firmer and darker than the 2011 tasted next to it, and in so being, it offers a completely different drinking experience. Here, we have a ductile display of fine but generously proportioned tannins and a draw of flavor over the palate that lingers long. This is really impressive, all about the structure. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Showing graceful maturity in the glass. Elegant and refined nose with sweet fruits and a savoury, cedary liquorice-root note. Soft and fine chalky tannins that are still firm and with lots of life in them. Poised acidity and very delicate dark and red fruits. This is a refreshing, vibrant and complex wine, which is a joy to drink now but will continue to age well. (AC)
The leader of the Brokenwood pack, matured in French oak. Deep crimson-purple; you can see the size of the castle, but the drawbridge is up, and the moat very deep. There is only one thing to do: buy as much as you/your partner can afford, and don't return for at least 5, preferably 10, years. This has all the attributes of a great Graveyard, its balance (the key) and length unimpeachable.
Mid ruby. Warm evolved nose, like melted tar with real lift on the end. Very fresh. Neat. Early maturing. (JR)
