Ripe white peach and apple are tinged with violet perfume and laced with cooling green herbs on the nose as well as on an admirably juicy, polished, glossy palate. The usual stony and chalky notes of this site are joined by smoky, struck-flint inflections and piquant peach kernel in a gripping, high-energy finish.

The 2015 Riesling Smaragd Klaus displays a cool, precise and extremely flinty bouquet of white-fleshed stone fruits. Intense and rich on the palate, this is an elegant, dense and tightly woven wine with great concentration, grip and expression. Powerful, but still elegant and rather lean, this wine will shine in 10 years. Great elegance and mineral expression.
