Bottled with 8% alcohol the 2012 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Kabinett combines complexity with elegance and finesse. Lovely pure and fresh on the nose where a coolish and flinty/stony aroma intermixes with floral/herbal and citrus flavors leading to a light-footed and delicately elegant but also complex palate. This is a racy, well structured and minerally scented wine provided with a gentle sweetness. It can be aged for 20 years. (AP number #2 13)

Stinky with sulphidic fermentation aromas at the moment so that little else is revealed. All the Thanisch wines tasted in this group stood out for this marked characteristic. On the palate, honeyed citrus sweetness, simple now but obviously more to come. (JH)
