Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2020-2026, Josh Raynolds, Feb 2017

Opaque ruby. Aromas of ripe dark berries, pungent flowers and cracked pepper, lifted by a mineral flourish. Smooth and fleshy on the palate, offering spice-tinged blackberry and violet pastille flavors and a touch of smokiness. Tightens up with air and finishes sweet and long, displaying harmonious tannins and building spiciness.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2016-2026, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

A beautiful base cuvée that just begs to be drunk, the 2014 Côte Rôtie Champin Le Seigneur (90% Syrah and 10% Viognier aged in 50% new barrels) is loaded with classic Côte Rôtie notes of smoked meats, licorice, mulled red and black fruits, and hints of bacon fat. Medium-bodied, rounded and ready to go, drink it anytime over the coming decade.

Opaque ruby. High-pitched dark berry and floral scents, along with suggestions of black pepper and smoky minerals. Juicy and seamless on the palate, offering appealingly sweet blackberry and violet pastille flavors and a touch of candied licorice. Finishes silky and long, displaying slow-building tannins and lingering smokiness.
