Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2021-2030, Neal Martin, Sep 2021

The 2010 Tillington Single Vineyard was bottled in June 2011 and disgorged in August 2014. It has a slightly more mineral-driven nose compared to the 2009, and more malic, with touches of green apple, kiwi fruit and nettle/fern. The palate is well balanced but does not quite have the verve or precision of the 2009. It feels cohesive toward the finish, where lemon zest lingers on the aftertaste.

Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2017-2025, Jancis Robinson MW, Jan 2017

22% Chardonnay, 78% Pinot Noir grown on a superior block of the estate's vineyards in West Sussex. Winemaker Cherie Spriggs. TA 8.4 g/l, RS 9.5 g/l, pH 2.93. Tasted blind. Light and open on the nose. Relatively simple. Something a little like hard candy on the nose. Not much length. Is this the Krug Grande Cuvée based on 2007 (launched in November 2016)? Very embryonic. A tad sweet and simple. 78% Pinot Noir, 22% Chardonnay. Acidity 8.4 g/l, pH 2.93, residual sugar 9.5 g/l. Bottled on 1 June 2011. Riddling date 30 July 2014. Disgorged on 14 August 2014. 2009 was first vintage of Tillington. 2010 just released. Tillington exists because they're keeping sub-blocks separate. Mainly Pinot which has a character they love. They like to release early to give an idea of this Pinot fruit. A bit bony somehow on the nose. Big and bold. Lots of impact. Quite dramatic. You could drink this with food. Long undertow. (JR)

When Nyetimber introduced the first vintage of their single vineyard Pinot and Chardonnay blend last year it raised many eyebrows, ambitiously priced at £75 - £90 depending on stockist. 4117 bottles of this 2010 have now been released (this was bottle #60), the colour a pale green with gold inflections, the nose very Champagne-like with biscuit and lightly yeasty aromas and then baked apple and a fresh citrus note too. In the mouth it is bright and clear, those fresher notes of clean, cut apple and lemon and lime, fine acidity and just a lovely hint of the sweetness of the dosage and gentle toast in the finish.
