Opaque ruby. A complex, smoke- and spice-tinged bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, along with notes of mocha and olive paste. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors supported by juicy acidity and sharpened by a peppery nuance. Quintessential Syrah, displaying very good depth of flavor and no excess fat. Finishes with building sweetness, gentle tannins and very good persistence, leaving a note of cracked pepper behind.

A blend from multiple terroirs spread throughout the appellation, the 2013 Crozes Hermitage la Matinière (100% Syrah aged all in concrete) has lots of classic northern Rhone charm in its peppery, black cherry, olive and black raspberry-driven personality. Medium-bodied, pure, lively and balanced, it’s a high quality, workhorse-styled effort that will deliver the goods over the coming 7-8 years.
Opaque ruby. Spice-accented blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by notes of licorice, smoked meat and espresso, with subtle olive and mineral nuances in the background. Shows very good clarity and lift on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors that become sweeter with air. A spicy, penetrating wine with strong finishing thrust and late-arriving tannins that add grip.
