Almost 100% estate grown, but includes some bought-in fruit. Delicate spice, incense, silky fruit, gorgeous plum flavour. Long and aromatic with beautiful purity and focus. (RH)

This comes from Chave's négociant side of the business. Old-vine Syrah from several villages. Velvety crimson colour with a soft rim. Lovely aroma of peppery Syrah dark fruit and just a slight herbal stemminess. Gets more and more peppery in the glass. Succulent and mouth-watering chalk-fine texture, freshness and all that lively peppery fruit. Long, savoury, spicy finish. A delicious wine from a master of the northern Rhône. (JH)
Inky ruby. Heady aromas of raspberry liqueur, cola, potpourri and smoky bacon are lifted by a vibrant mineral quality. Deep-pitched red fruit and violet pastille flavors stain the palate and become sweeter and more lively with air. Silky, focused and very nicely balanced, with excellent finishing thrust; silky, even tannins add grip. This is as fine a version of this bottling as I have ever tasted and shows a distinctly graceful touch for Syrah.
