I continue to just love the wines from the young Frederic Poutalie. Unfortunately, I was only able to taste a single wine from him, but the 2013 Terrasses du Larzac is nevertheless a beauty that showed even better from bottle than barrel. It’s ruby/purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of savory spices, dried pepper, black raspberries and dried violets. Medium-bodied, seamless, silky and elegant, with present tannin that lend length on the finish, it has the fruit and charm to drink beautifully today, yet I suspect it will keep for a decade.

Deeper and richer than the Languedoc cuvee, the 2013 Terrasses du Larzac gives up full-bodied richness and depth to go with lots of minerality, sweet cherry and currant fruit and hints of vanilla and licorice. I like its mid-palate, and the tannin is nicely integrated and sweet.
The 2013 Coteaux du Languedoc, which was tasted from multiple barrels, offers the classic perfume and approachable character of the estate, to go with medium to full-bodied richness, solid richness and plenty of length. It should be another solid wine from Frederic Pourtalie. Apr 2015, www.robertparker.com
