Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2023-2033, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2019

Expected 4 November. The Sommerberg is a steep granitic grand cru of Alsace, next to Turckheim. Restrained, light nose with massive finesse and potential but it’s all tucked in at the moment. Recalls a very fine claret in build in a funny way – all those tannins? The dryness? (JR)

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2034, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

Sourced from two parcels in the same altitude but separated by 400 meters, the 2014 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg offers a very pure and rather coolish, crystalline and lemon-flavored bouquet that indicates a good ripeness and fruit concentration. Full-bodied and very juicy on the palate, this is a pretty intense but also piquant and finessed Sommerberg. It combines the ripeness and density of 40-year-old vines Riesling with the freshness of 320 meters altitude. Still very young, this Sommerberg will benefit from further bottle ageing.

Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2016-2026, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2016

Very refined and energetic on the nose. Chock full of grapefruit and chalkiness on the finish. Really finely etched with great depth of fruit. Lightly bitter on the finish. (JR)
