Note di degustazione
(75% of the wine was aged in used demi-muids and the rest in stainless steel tanks): Limpid yellow. Mineral-accented aromas of pear skin, peach pit, lifted by a gingery nuance. Chewy and tightly focused on the palate, offering underripe pear and lemon pith flavors and a hint of quinine. No excess weight here. Closes with strong, stony persistence, repeating spiciness and a subtle touch of honeysuckle.

The medium-gold colored 2014 Saint Joseph Blanc Deschants comes from mostly granite soils and was raised in a mix of 80/20 stainless steel and two- to three-year-old demi-muids. It gives up that classic Marsanne buttered citrus, poached pear, honeycomb and freshly crushed rock-like aromas and flavors. This gives way to a medium-bodied, pretty, polished white that shows the elegance and forward character that’s common in the vintage. It should drink nicely for 3-4 years.
