<strong>2005 – 95 points</strong>: A dark multi-layered shiraz, with layers of fruit, minerals and a slightly briary savoury edge; has marked nervosity, power and depth; opens slowly, but has a long story to tell. Mar 2008<br><br><strong>2006 – 96 points</strong>: Inky crimson-purple; laden with voluptuous, but not jammy or dead, fruit in a blackberry, licorice and prune range, the tannins remarkably soft for a full-bodied wine, oak unobtrusive. Feb 2009<br><br><strong>2007 – 93 points</strong>: Uncertain colour for such a distinguished wine; quickly recovers with its powerful array of black fruits, licorice and oak on the bouquet and full-bodied palate; the vintage, however, robs the wine of its usual great distinction. Mar 2010<br><br><strong>2008 – 96 points</strong>: Deep crimson-purple; the bouquet is seductively complex, multi-fruit, spice and oak aromas playing tag with each other; the full-bodied palate continues the game, with lush black fruits and fine, savoury tannins in perfect balance, oak and alcohol seamlessly woven into the core of wine. Feb 2011<br><br><strong>2009 – 96 points</strong>: The vineyard was planted in ?68, a drought year requiring each vine to be hand watered by the family from drums on the back of a tractor, an investment in blood, sweat and tears that has been handsomely repaid. Elegance is not a word usually associated with wines having the dimension of Armagh, but it applies here, yet without betraying the birthright of a wine with exceptional depth to its fusion of dark berries, spices and toasty oak, the latter in the manner of Grange, obvious yet integrated and balanced. Jul 2014<br><br><strong>2010 – 97 points</strong>: Matured for 14 months in 67% French, 33% American oak, 70% new. A deeply woven bouquet of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum flows through into the rich, multilayered palate; while oak and ripe tannins are also plentiful, the balance and harmony of the wine mean it is not the least ponderous. <strong>2005 – 96 points</strong>: Deep garnet in color with a touch of purple, the 2005 The Armagh Shiraz presents enticing smoked meat, black currant preserves and dried mulberries on the nose complemented by notes of charcoal, mocha, nuts and spices making it overall a little funky. Medium to full-bodied with rich, savory fruit concentration, it is framed by medium to firm, grainy tannins that lend a taut and muscular character to the long finish. Approachable now, it should be long lived and drink to 2025+. The rich, full-bodied palate has TONS of fruit with a firm, fine structure and very long finish. Aug 2016<br><br><strong>2007 – 96+ points</strong>: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2007 The Amargh Shiraz gives pronounced notes of warm blackberries and blueberries with nuances of earth, cumin seed, anise, black truffles, black olives and duck breast. Very full and voluptuous in the mouth, the richness is nicely supported by a high level of velvety tannins and lively acid, finishing long and layered. Delicious now, it should cellar to 2022+. Dec 2011<br><br><strong>2008 – 94 points</strong>: Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2008 The Armagh Shiraz opens with intense notes of kirsch, warm black cherry, black raspberry and mulberry with overtones of pepper and spice and a bit of truffles and mocha. Slightly prune-like on the very full-bodied palate, it is rich with lively acid and firm, velvety tannins. It finishes long and spicy. Drink it now to 2028+. Feb 2013<br><br><strong>2009 – 96+ points</strong>: Deep garnet in color, the 2009 The Armagh Shiraz displays a more evolved black plum and kirsch character accented by notes of pencil lead, black olives and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, muscular and a little mute, it has a very taut, firm structure that shows aging promise and a long finish. As it needs some time, drink it from 2015 to 2030+. Feb 2013<br><br><strong>2010 – 99+ points</strong>: Deep garnet with a touch of purple, the 2010 Shiraz The Armagh offers a beautiful black fruit core, yielding notes of crushed blackberries and blueberries, with an undercurrent of coffee and spice box, plus touches of earth and raw meat.
