Huber's 2012 Alte Reben Spätburgunder is a selection from averaging 40 years old vines cultivated on shell limestone soils including the top vineyards of the family domaine. Very delicate, fresh and pure aromas of dark berries along with floral flavors on the nose, this low-yielding Pinot (40 hectoliters per hectare) has significantly more expression than the Malterdinger. Beware that this wine also contains downgraded parts of the several Grosses Gewächs wines. Silky textured, dense and super balanced on the palate this full-bodied and well structured wine develops an impressive intensity in the long and refreshing mineral finish. "It is always a great pleasure to see how the density and intensity of the old German vines in lesser sites match perfectly with the fruity charm of our younger clones from Burgundy,“ says Julian Huber. The 2012 was made with 40% whole clusters.

Deep ruby. Elegant nose offers wild raspberry, cherry and citrus zest, plus hints of caramel and chocolate. Subtle and classy, conveying an impression of youthfully sweet extract. Lingering flavors of strawberry and licorice are complemented by harmonious vanillin oak. This long Pinot Noir is a second wine made from the estate's four grand crus and is generally perceived as their premier cru.
