Punteggio 98/100 · Da bere 2016-2044, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2016

Molitor's 2014 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) has a yellow-golden color and displays a very clear and precise, rather warm and tropical bouquet of fully ripe, perfectly selected Riesling berries. Very delicate and filigreed on the finesse-full and frisky palate, this wine reveals a great purity, elegance and perfect sweetness, as well as a serious (tannin) structure and great, intense length. This Auslese is more lush and sensual than the corresponding Bockstein, but its intensity and tension is the same. The acidity is just delicate and fine, and brings out the crystalline character of the Sonnenuhr. This is another beauty of the 2014 vintage.

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2016-2040, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Sep 2015

Scents of decadent, musky faded lily, peony and gardenia are almost overwhelming, and in alliance with lemon peel, black tea, sweat and quince distillate cause the hairs in my nostrils to stand to attention. A creamy alliance of quince preserves, marzipan and vanilla is pitted against smoky, saline, zesty and brightly citric elements for a riveting palate performance. Like others of Molitor’s ostensibly top vintage 2014 Auslesen, this is restlessly and relentlessly tense and will need a long while to reveal its ultimate personality. It doesn’t possess quite the clarity and cut of its “three-star” Ockfener Bockstein counterpart (few wines do) but finishes with amazing persistence.
