Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2028, Josh Raynolds, Feb 2017

Saturated ruby. Expressive aromas of ripe red and dark berries, incense, vanilla, exotic spices and smoky minerals, plus a suggestion of licorice. Spicy, deeply concentrated but lithe black raspberry, cassis and cherry liqueur flavors show superb clarity and energy, and a sexy violet pastille quality emerges as the wine opens up. Delivers a suave blend of richness and delicacy, finishing with bright mineral lift, harmonious tannins and strong, floral-driven persistence.

On another level, the 2014 Côte Rôtie La Mordorée is a perfumed, incredibly layered and even sexy 2014 that has lots of black raspberry fruits, flowers, potpourri, and spice aromas and flavors. It’s a deeper, richer wine than the Les Bécasses, has solid mid-palate depth and sweet tannin. It will drink well for at least a decade.

Brilliant ruby-red. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, cherry pit, incense and pungent flowers, and a smoky bacon nuance builds in the glass. Concentrated but lively and precise, offering energetic blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and an undercurrent of vibrant minerality. Clings with outstanding tenacity on the youthfully tannic finish, leaving behind smoky mineral and floral pastille notes.
