The 2012 Isolation Ridge Riesling is a big step into modern day, having started this tasting in the 1994 vintage, and it looks so tight and firm right now. The acid is prolific, a la Frankland River, and the texture serves to emphasize this. It is polished and sleek, and far leaner than the other vintages tasted here today. Perhaps this is a vintage-driven quirk, which is welcome. I feel this will evolve into a toasty, tight old wine. For now, it remains ungiving yet laden with potential.

Single vineyard. Organic viticulture, vines planted 1988. Fermented in tank. Very pure, intense lime-fruit aroma. Extremely taut even though there is a hint of creaminess in the texture. Intense but rather one-dimensional. Maybe it will become more complex with some time in bottle? (JH)
