Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2017-2023, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, May 2016

A little gentler and sweeter-fruited than the Single Vineyard Block A 2013 Pinot. But it is still pretty lean. Refined, dry texture but too austere for great pleasure, for now at least. Fresh and tangy even so. (JH)

Blueberry, milk chocolate, gentle tannin, fine balance – not quite as complex as the Block 2, for me. Restrained, compressed. (RH)

This is the lighter colored of the two Single Block pinot noirs from 2013. It has a complex nose that has plenty of red and dark cherry fruit at the core with a sense of depth and exuberantly fragrant style. The oak brings spice and gentle roasted coffee notes which are all nicely integrated and there\'s a swirling layer of spice too. The palate has an attractive mesh of fine, grainy tannins that bring a savory thread to the fore. The flesh is all there but it\'s held in a taut style through to the chalky finish - a wine worth sitting aside for a few years before drinking. Drink in 2018.

Pale ruby-purple, the 2013 Block 1 Pinot Noir opens with a very classy nose of red berries, rhubarb and fragrant earth with hints of lavender, mandarin peel and cloves. Medium-bodied and delicate in the mouth, it offers plenty of flavor layers and a good, firm backbone with a very long finish.
