Opaque ruby. Aromas of fresh dark berries, candied flowers and star anise gain vivacity from a minerally element. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering vibrant black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of cracked pepper. The floral note comes back strong on the subtly tannic finish, which lingers with excellent tenacity.

Showing beautifully from bottle, the inky, almost opaque 2013 Cornas Granit 30 gives up rocking notes of black raspberries, cassis, crushed violets, green olive and ample black pepper. Medium to full-bodied with excellent concentration, integrated acidity and a great finish, this is classic, old school Cornas done impeccably well. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more.
More red fruited than black. Light on the palate, with not a huge deal of complexity. (RH)
(raised in used demi-muids ): Bright violet color. Fresh red and dark berries and potpourri on the intensely perfumed nose. Silky and broad in the mouth, with sweet black raspberry and floral pastille flavors buffered by zesty acidity and a hint of white pepper. Closes silky, stony and very long, with hints of spicecake and cola.
