Note di degustazione
Showing some signs of maturity, Pikes's medium-bodied 2014 The Merle Riesling is all honeyed on the nose, then lean, dry and almost chalky in texture on the palate, with overtones of marmalade, quince and citrus.

The 2014 Riesling The Merle Reserve is youthfully mute though still displays an aromatic array of citrus, yuzu and crushed stones accented by peach blossoms and hints of white pepper and coriander seeds. Light-bodied and dry, the very crisply defined palate is taut and needs time. It finishes long and steely.
100% Polish Hill River fruit from the Thickett Block. The whitest of all the Pike 2014 Rieslings. Steely nose. An architectural sculpted wine, that reminds me of the bare bones of a skyscraper. Long and complex and deep. Very green, very embryonic, very hidden away, very much a wine to leave well alone for now. (TC)
