Very pale in color, the 8% alcohol 2013 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese offers an extremely pure and flinty aroma of wet stones, white fruits, green apples and green leaves. Less sweet and with more finesse and delicacy then the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese, this is an elegant and light-footed, leaner style of Auslese and a great terroir reflection of the Himmelreich cru. Very stimulating even (or because) it was harvested just ripe. (I tasted AP #17 14.)

Intense with lots of extract and great focus. More suavity than I remember in many a Graach wine from this address. Floral explosion on the palate. Very crisp acidity. Some crystalline texture. Very youthful but expressively fruity without obvious sulphur. (JR)
Not bottled. Stony and delicate on the nose. There's a hint of smoke but also a floral note. Lovely finesse and a driving freshness that runs through the middle but does not dominate. Great length. (JH)
