Inky ruby. Expressive dark fruit preserve, violet and spicecake scents expand with air, picking up notes of olive paste and licorice. Sappy and velvety in texture, offering sweet blueberry, cassis and allspice flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Fleshy and broad but energetic as well, with supple tannins coming on late and folding into the wine's plush fruit.

Another outstanding Crozes Hermitage from this estate, the 2012 Crozes Hermitage les Picheres comes from the eastern portion of the appellation and mostly sandy soils. It's an impressive Northern Rhone that gives up lots of olive and leathery notes intermixed with subtle garrigue, cassis and bacon fat. Medium+-bodied, soft, textured and already hard to resist, drink it over the coming 7-8 years.
(75% of this wine was raised in concrete and the rest in barriques): Bright purple. Ripe cassis, cherry and smoked meat on the fragrant nose. Pliant and broad on the palate, offering ripe, smoke-accented dark fruit flavors that pick up a peppery element with aeration. The smoky quality carries through the chewy, youthfully tannic finish, with the cassis note repeating.
