Toasted hazelnuts appear on the peach-accented nose of the 2012 Mate's Vineyard Chardonnay. It's on the border between youthful and mature, at an attractive place in its evolution. Medium to full-bodied, silky and complex, it finishes long and elegant.

The 2012 Maté’s Vineyard Chardonnay has a much more expressive bouquet than the 2011 at the moment, offering vivacious yellow plum, mineral, flint and smoke aromas that gain momentum with aeration. The poised, focused palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and real precision toward the detailed finish. This is a very sophisticated New World Chardonnay. Tasted at the Kumeu River Chardonnay vertical in London.
Well mannered. Quite a bit of evolution on the nose. Light and creamy. Sweet and lively. Lime chews. Lots of fun and intensity but perhaps not the most classical of these wines. (JR)
Very pale straw. Precise. More open than the Hunting Hill 2012. Already very delicious. Great combo of fruit and crystalline precision. (JR)
