Limestone. RS 4 g/l, TA 6.58 g/l. Peach, green apple, sweet spice. Not much honey character, but plenty of floral notes and a lime peel character too. (RH)

Due to its west to northwestern exposition and higher altitude (up to 350 meters), where the grapes ripen very slowly, the Rotenberg can produce excellent botrytis grapes; but in 2012 the grapes remained healthy and were picked not too late in order to produce a dry 2012 Pinot Gris Rotenberg. Pale yellow in color and with chalk and lemon flavors on the still somewhat reductive Champagne nose, this is a full-bodied, elegant, very firm and zesty, quite austere wine that still does not flow on the palate; it does not have the broadness of the great 2013, but I am curious to retest this wine again in five or six years.
