2004 Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos

(10.7% alcohol; 164 g/l r.s. and 8.6 g/l acidity): Bright dark yellow. Rather evolved nose shows high-toned notes of apricot, vanilla, toffee, game, nutmeg and mocha, plus a slightly swampy earthy component. Then surprisingly alive on the palate, with lively citrussy acidity giving shape to the high-toned apricot and honey flavors. In a rather soft, supple style and a bit nutty for my taste. Finishes with a repeating toffee note and good length but could use more verve.
