A much paler wine in every wine than the Colombo Cornas wines. Light sweet meatiness but also a perfumed note of violets and black peppery fruit. Fluid, fine, rounded and fresh. Not a blockbuster but well coordinated. (JH)

Full red. Musky aromas of espresso, chicory, gunflint, and green and black olive. Dense, sweet and fat, with rather rigorous granitic flavors of raw red berries and pepper. But this also offers a generous texture and plenty of early personality.
The medium-bodied 2001 Cornas Domaine St.-Pierre possesses tough tannin, an attenuated mid-palate, and a lean, emaciated finish. Moderately saturated ruby-red. Rustic, Cornas-typical aromas of game, black olive and roasted herbs. Offers good texture but is currently rather closed, with a distinct green element (caraway seed?) in the middle. Tannins coat the front teeth. There's more wine here than in the basic offering.
