The 2004 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett smells enticingly and invigoratingly of sassafras, pineapple, and toasted nuts. In the mouth, it offers a perfectly clear, pure, refined impression of richness yet delicacy, with ripe yet fresh fruit hovering over a firm base of slate. Lovely freshness on the nose. Vegetation and leaves. Round and full and then lively crisp acidity. Really fresh mouthwash! Though not especially intense. (JR)
