The 2007 Gewürztraminer Clos Windsbuhl has a golden-apricot color and offers a very clear, pure, and transparent though intense and intriguingly spicy bouquet with notes of ginger, orange blossoms, pineapples, lemon zest, crushed pepper and many other flavors. Full-bodied, highly elegant and intense on the palate, this is a very mineral, almost dry tasting, very spicy and firmly structured wine of great finesse, expression and drinkability. The finish is buoyant and aromatic, and reveals a stimulating salinity. There is no fat or any opulence at all. This is a fascinatingly vibrant and finesse-full Gewürztraminer from one of the finest origins for this grape variety.

74 g/l RS, 52 hl/ha. Marmalade, roses, aromatic honey, tropical fruit, zingy acid, very viscous, piquant spice on the finish. (RH)
(racked; 12.4% alcohol with 74 g/l r.s.) Candied citrus peel, flowers and herbs on the nose and palate. Glyceral-rich but almost magically juicy, with lovely citric cut intensifying the wine's superb fruit. Barely 10% botrytized fruit here. This took a long time to ferment its sugars and went through malolactic fermentation, but it's wonderfully high-pitched and pure, with an exhilarating combination of low alcohol and brisk acidity. A knockout in the making, and probably a wine that will be best enjoyed on its own.
