The 1998 Gewurztraminer Clos Windsbuhl offers a nose of red berries, pears, and spices. This medium-to-full-bodied wine's velvety-textured character is crammed with flavors reminiscent of almond cookie dough, sweet red cherries, creamed raspberries, and roses. Even riper but reticent aromas of citrus and smoke. Sweet, succulent and smoky in the mouth, with a minerally austerity contributing to the impression of structure. Meaty but not at all rustic. A large-scaled, very rich wine that appears to be closing down today. Very long, strong aftertaste.
