Low-key nose. Serious, dry, chunky, though no transports of delight. Wait? (JR)

The 2009 Chardonnay is youthfully mute with subtle aromas of peach blossom, apricots, blanched cashews, oatmeal, pebbles and honeysuckle. Rich, full and silky in the mouth, the concentrated, tight-knit flavors are nicely off-set by crisp acid, finishing long. Drink it 2012 to 2016+. Winemaker Blair Walter continues to work his magic with the recent releases from Central Otago’s most famous Estate. There’s not a wine less than excellent in the bunch, but these days it would be more of a story if there was. Importer: Wilson Daniels Ltd., St. Helena, CA; www.wilsondaniels.com
Light and aromatic with a hint of sweet fruitiness though it finished dry. Pretty well made though there is still a bit of chew and alcohol on the end. Perhaps just too young? (JR)
