Saturated ruby. Deep blackberry and plum aromas, with strong chocolate and licorice notes. Lush, supple and sweet, with ripe dark fruit and mocha flavors framed by silky tannins. The sweetness builds through the long, fresh, mineral-driven finish.

The 2004 Cornas Vieilles Vignes has a dense ruby/purple color, high tannin, sharp acids, and a tart finish. It is loaded and intense, and is going to last a long time, but I wonder if the acid is ever going to become fully integrated. Importers: Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel. Deep, dark red. Breathtaking aromas of cassis, dark plum, licorice, cherry cola, black pepper, graphite and iron, with a top note of violet. Powerful and sweet in the mouth, absolutely packed with dark berry fruit and exotic floral flavors. Finishes chocolatey but fresh, with firm but graceful tannins and excellent length.
