Full medium red. Pretty, perfumed aromas of raspberry, gunflint, smoked meat, pepper and truffle. Dense, chewy and sweet, with harmonious acidity and a firm mineral underpinning. Not hugely deep but complex, expressive and quintessential La Mouline. Shows a fully mature note of maple syrup and a hint of spiky acidity on the end. This was delicious in the late '80s and tastes today like it's just a few years older.

Looks much more developed than the 1983. Smells slightly unripe but then so juicy it’s almost squelchy. A bit over the top and animal for some tastes perhaps – almost cheesy. Carmen wildness. Very attractive all the way through to the end. Acid shows through. Acid comes back at the end. (JR)
Last Tasted 12/91 Spectacularly concentrated, this is the essence of wine. It offers a sweet nose of black raspberries and smoky, toasty new oak. In the mouth, there is layer upon layer of concentration, a velvety texture, low acid, and a spectacularly rich, lush finish. Decadent! Anticipated maturity: now-2005.
