2008 Clauzet

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot on deep gravel. Vines aged 40 years on average. Vinified in temperature-controlled concrete vats. 50% aged in barrel (50% new), 50% in concrete vats. Greyish garnet. Aromas of cedar and spice and cigar box. Fresh and cedary on the palate too. Still some grip to the tannins but rounded out by the fruit and some dark-chocolate notes on the finish. All in balance and correct if not terribly exciting. (JH)
