Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2007-2013, Robert Parker, Apr 2007

Gerin’s 2004s are among the finer wines of this vintage, which was a challenge for most Cote Rotie producers as yields were entirely too high and the phenolic ripeness difficult to achieve. His 2004 Cote Rotie Champin Le Seigneur offers soft, sweet, smoky black cherry fruit intermixed with some barrique smells, excellent texture, medium to full body, and sweet tannin. This is a high-class wine for drinking in its first 4-6 years of life. One of the most innovative and progressive producers in Cote Rotie, Jean-Michel Gerin, has also branched out with a project in Priorat, Spain, turning out some very fine wines called Trio Infernal. His 2004s (of course, a fabulous vintage in Spain) are certainly outstanding wines, made from Grenache and very old-vine Carignan. Importers: New Castle Imports, Myrtle Beach, SC; tel. Bright red. Highly perfumed aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry and cracked pepper overlaid with a strong note of dried violet. Mineral-accented red fruit flavors are bright and fresh; a light dusting of tannins provides structure. The clean, brisk finish is sweet and long. One could drink this suave wine right now.

(raised in 50% new oak; 10% viognier was co-fermented with the syrah) Bright red color. Lush and inviting aromas of red berries, sexy oak spices and roasted coffee. Sweet and round in the mouth, offering an attractive combination of ripeness and precision. A sweet, creamy wine that finishes gently tannic, with a ripe raspberry flavor.
