2000 Gould Campbell

Very deep healthy purple. Some green notes on the nose and then a great whack of sweetness but overall the finish is dry. At the moment this is quite painful to taste, which is of course a good sign in vintage port. One of the most youthful wines of the lot with unintegrated fruit, acid and tannin. Quite intriguing. Saturated deep ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, raspberry and spices, all lifted by a floral element. Juicy, grapey and primary, but already reveals lovely inner-mouth floral perfume. Not hugely dense or sweet but sharply delineated, with firm acids contributing to the impression of structure. Boasts an exhilarating sugar/acid balance and noteworthy vibrancy. Finishes firmly tannic and long.
