2009 Galpin Peak Pinot Noir Tete de Cuvee

Last year, I was nonplussed by the 2009 Tete de Cuvee Galpin Peak Pinot Noir and I am afraid that question mark remains. Both bottles exhibited a little oxidation on the nose while the palate seems rather saccharine towards the finish. Drink now. I have great respect for the wines made by Peter Finlayson in the Hemel-En-Aarde Valley. Without question, their strongest card is their excellent Chardonnays, although with so many cuvees with similar sounding names, it can become confusing in the same way as one mixes up their Burgundy lieux-dits. I still have doubts over their Pinot Noirs that I re-tasted. Even the flagship Tete de Cuvee Pinot Noir left me perplexed, rather "soupy" in the mouth when I was seeking freshness and clarity.
