2007 Puy Blanquet

A 25-ha vineyard at St-Etienne de Lisse, owned by the Jacquet family. Planted with 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. 20% barrel-aged, 80% in vat for 12 months. Soil is clay-limestone. Mid ruby. Well shaded to the rim. Very developed nose and a bit lacking oomph on the palate. Hint of rusty nails. Can’t quite see why this was chosen for the Wine Society’s press tasting in September 2011? (JR)
