Second vintage of this single vineyard wine overseen by Bill Downie. Pale, bright ruby. Warm, transparent nose with ripe fruit overlaying any stemminess. Surely this is much more like what they wanted to make to express this vineyard? Still dry and notably fresh n the finish (who on earth would guess this were Australian in a completely blind tasting?) with some dryness on the finish but a complete, balanced tasting experience even if I still find a touch of green acidity and both dryness and tartness on the finish. But it is so much better than the 2011 according to my palate. (JR)

The 2012 Proprietary Blend is mainly a Pinot Noir with some Shiraz and a splash Sauvignon Blanc. This medium ruby-purple colored wine is a little closed on the nose though still reveals an attractive core of black and red cherries, black raspberries and pomegranate with nuances of lilacs, earth and tree bark. Medium-bodied and quite intense in the mouth, it is tightly knit together by a medium level of fine-grained tannins and a crisp acid line before it concludes with a very long finish. It is on the finish that the Sauvignon Blanc comes through with a little herbal astringency that is very interesting. Drink it 2014 to 2022+. No known USA importer.
