Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2036, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Jun 2024

Produced using the former aging strategy of maturing in 60% new 225-liter oak barrels, the 2006 Chinon Coteau de Noiré offers up a somber, mineral bouquet of licorice, gentian, pencil lead and plums intertwined with rose notes with air. Medium-bodied, structured and dense, it has a perfectly balanced palate with structured, fine-grained tannins, concluding with lovely bacon notes on the finish. The vines were eight to 10 years old at the time, imparting vigorous acidity and more pronounced tannins to the wine. Despite these youthful characteristics, the profound telluric force of the terroir is distinctly present, imparting a deep, mineral complexity that forms the backbone of the wine's profile. This dynamic interplay underscores the inherent qualities of the vineyard, demonstrating that even younger vines can express the unique attributes of their environment.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2021-2026, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Oct 2021

Fully mature, the mellow, savory 2006 Chinon Coteau de Noiré displays the supple, no-edges characters of a mature wine. There's sweet red fruit in the background as well as Sunday dinner flavors: roasted meat, gravy, a green vegetable, and tea leaves on the finish, all very appealing. The site’s chalky tannins create a fine texture on the precise, savory finish.
